Principal's Message

Dear Scholars and Families,

It is hard to believe that we are already well into Term 2 here at Del Lago Academy.  As many of you know, Term 2 is filled with numerous academic and extra-curricular happenings.  Each of our scholars in grades 9 & 10 are participating in a Term 2 Interdisciplinary Project.  The IDP is a cross-content project that contains a variety of tasks addressed in the scholar’s Humanities, ENS, Science, and POD classes – depending on their grade level.  Scholars work independently and in collaborative groups. The projects are an opportunity for scholars to demonstrate learning of key academic concepts and grade level skills.  Scholars in grade 11 are preparing to participate in their six-week off campus Internship experience which will take place beginning in February and run through April.  Each grade 11 scholar is finalizing the off campus internship location and securing a mentor for this experience.  DLA seniors are starting final Term!  Plans for life beyond DLA, which include college and career choices, are beginning to take shape.  This is an exciting time for our senior scholars.

As an ongoing commitment to our Never Too Late to Learn Pillar, scholars are able to participate in daily after school tutoring sessions designed to assist them in both remediating a previous No Mark or studying and preparing for an upcoming competency.  The tutoring schedule is available on the DLA website and is centrally located as a poster in the C building and front office.  DLA teaching staff and DLA Scholar tutors are available each day to work alongside scholars in meeting academic expectations.

DLA is also alive with a variety of extra-curricular activities.  The Drama club is busy preparing for the Spring Musical.  Dates are on the DLA calendar, so save the date!  May DLA scholars are participating in winter sports with both boys and girls basketball games and boys and girls soccer matches taking place on a weekly basis.  Please see the DLA calendar on our website for specific game times and locations.  Spring sport tryout dates and times have also been established and scholars need to make sure their athletic packet is complete and their eligibility status is taken care of in anticipation of spring sports participation.  DLA ASB is busy with immediate plans for our upcoming 2019 Hoopcoming Dance and alumni basketball games.  With Pep Rallies and School Spirit Days planned, there is much excitement in the air!

Lastly, DLA is proud to serve as one of the many outstanding schools of choice in the EUHSD.  Our 2019/20 Application process is now open and we are wrapping up our final DLA tours for our perspective families.  If you would like to apply to DLA for fall 2019, please visit our DLA website or come into the office to attain an application.  The final date and time to submit an application is Friday, January 25th at 4:30PM.  Thank you for choosing DLA!
